[Rap] XV - The Kick (prod. by DJ Tech-Neek)

I'll make this short and sweet: XV absolutely MURDERS this track. Probably his best work thus far. The Inception-inspired beat by DJ Tech-Neek is also ridiculous....definitely a must listen.

[Indie/Pop] LIPS - Ghosts and Demons

We have featured LIPS on the blog before, and now she has come out with a new tune that you all should hear. But I will let her management team introduce you, if you don't know who she is...

"A talented keyboard player with a soft spot for Casio sounds, Stephanie Brown a.k.a Lips performed extensively in her native New Zealand before moving to New York and forming the soul blues act Fredericks Brown in 2007. In 2010 Brown decided to take the leap and make music in her own right.

Characterized by a giant pair of lips on legs, Lips is that solo persona. Having already won comparisons to the likes of Oh Land and Little Dragon, her's is a unique sound characterized by masterful songwriting and a sly sense of humor. Whether it's loneliness or love, anger of happiness, Brown has a knack for capturing the bittersweet nuances of life and putting them to song.

Lips's latest song,"Ghosts and Demons", is a raw account of grief; it describes the feeling when you lose someone and the world tilts on its head a little, when for a period things no longer quite make sense."

[Freestyle] Tyler, the Creator ft. Domo Genesis - Odd & Twisted

Hip-hop's most worthy, Odd Future, is at it again. In this freestyle, Tyler The Creator and Domo Genesis go HAM over Mobb Deep's famous ‘Got It Twisted’ instrumental. This was part of Peter Rosenberg ‘What’s Poppin Vol. 1′ mixtape, and features some funny commentary from Mr. Rosenberg himself. Pardon the shit quality, as it was probably recorded on tour, but it is fire.

Bird Peterson - Drankenstein 2

Long time SB enthusiast @ochoTRON sent us over this mixtape today, and I am grateful he did. We first caught wind of Bird Peterson through his phenomenal remix of Wale's "Freaks", and haven't heard much from him since. The Birdman himself describes the genre of this hour long mix as "Crunk Trance" (sounds awful...it isn't) as well as "Hot Ass Butt Jams". Interpret that however you want, but I listened to the whole thing through and enjoyed it thoroughly.

[Nu-disco] LE YOUTH - End of Summer

Summer is over. I'm done with college. I don't have a job. I'm depressed. This song is great though, listen to it.
