This morning I received a text from SUPERTREND which read: "Ur gay. You'll like this: Yelle - Que Veux-Tu (Madeon Remix)." Well, I guess SUPERTREND knows me pretty well because I love this song (does that make me gay?). I don't speak any French, so the only words I understand in the song are "danse" and "magnifique." But thats fine by me. I love Yelle's vocals coupled with the disco vibe. Reminds me of Miami Horror.

Keep Shelly in Athens is a downtempo- eletronica group out of Greece (obviously) who have been getting a lot of attention the past few months or so for the releases of tracks such as "Hauntin' Me" and "Running out of You". This is a remix they did of Solar Bears track "Cub" which came off last years album "She Was Coloured In". Solar Bears are another electronic music duo from Ireland who just happened to do a remix of "Running out of You" not too long ago.

Brostep?

What the HELL is Brostep?

After hearing the name, most people assume it’s a joke - however these same people can then be found on Rusko’s or Datsik’s dance floor going absolutely nuts.

Consider the Wikipedia article:

Brostep (also called ‘mid-range cack’ or bruvstep in the UK) evolved out of dubstep to become what many see as a separate subgenre of music, although it is still largely categorized as dubstep by event promoters, fans and most of the artists themselves. Brostep is characterized by the preference of mid-range frequencies over those of the low end, a massive amount of wobble, an aggressive ‘feel’ to the music and an impatient, almost frantic style of delivery. More drum and bass-influenced than dub-influenced (as is the case with dubstep), brostep is tinged with scrapes of heavy metal and has a jumpier, ravey vibe with very little sub-bass weight.

Some people argue that some brostep artists (although no one is claiming the brostep label) are: Rusko, Caspa, Coki, Reso, Trillbass, Datsik, Excision, and Borgore. And people are loving their work.

Long time lovers of Dubstep are hating the direction the genre is moving. I say let 'em hate. The only reason the genre has gained so much attention in the last year all over the world is because of these acts.

Tyler The Creator- YONKERS

Last week, Odd Future released a new Tyler The Creator video. This track will be featured on Tyler's upcoming second album GOBLIN, set to be released in April. OFWGKTA (Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All) are a hip hop collective out of Los Angeles, California. The members are Tyler the Creator, Hodgy Beats, Earl Sweatshirt, Domo Genesis, Mike G, Frank Ocean, Left Brain, The Super 3, Syd tha Kyd, Jasper Loc and Taco Bennett. These guys are gonna be performing at Cochella, except for Earl Sweatshirt, who is under his mother's custody until he turns 18. You may ask, why would Earl's mother not allow him to continue to be a part of this group? Take a look at the videos. Big ups to Kaiusalon for the tip.

Daily Dubstep

I got a few gems here for you today. The first one is a drumstep remix by ConRank. For me, drumstep is usually hit or miss. This track, however, is done extremely well. The second is from Jack Deezl. It has high synths, ambient vocals, and is all around awesome. The final one is a chillstep track from Cliffhanga. "Landmines" is part dream, part smooth wobbles, creating a beautiful choon.
