[Synth/Pop] AlunaGeorge - You Know You Like It

When this track landed in our inbox, I couldn't decide if I wanted to post it. Then, after hearing the story about this duo, I couldn't resist. Aluna Francis and George Reid (AlunaGeorge) met randomly over the internet and through a mutual love of Radiohead began to make music together. Their dreamy synth pop style in "You Know You Like It" is quite addictive, and I know you('ll) like it.

[Hip-Hop/Mashup] The Jane Doze - Bullshittin On My Coffee Break (Big Sean vs Zeds Dead)

One of the best mashups I've heard in a hotttttt minute right here. The Jane Doze does a masterful job meshing Big Sean's lyrics with the Zeds Dead beat.

"I'm chillin' with my niggaz, nigga! And a couple cool bitches!".....Sounds like Big Sean is living the life.

[Club/Dance/Rap] Azealia Banks- 212

This song, produced by Lazy Jay, has been blowing up this month and I think it's going to be a staple on the EDM club circuit for some time. Azealia Banks is a 19 year-old from Harlem and she likes rapping about her genitals (the lyrics to 212 are pretty explicit). She's probably going to be really famous because she kinda looks like Rihanna, she can sing, she can rap, and she can produce.

[Hip-Hop] Tayyib Ali - Yesterday

"Yesterday" isn't a new track; in fact, it was released back in February on Tayyib Ali's mixtape Keystone State of Mind. However, this song is resurfacing at the moment because Tayyib just completed a music video for it. Although I don't think the video is very exciting, "Yesterday" is a jam and needs to be heard. Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed.

[Mellow] Blind Melon - No Rain (Pumpkin Remix)

I can't find one reason to hate on Blind Melon. "No Rain" is just one of those tracks that was revolutionary in the 90's, and people still get a kick out of today. When my boy Ben sent over this track yesterday, I couldn't help but find my self to listen. I literally have no idea who Pumpkin is (except that he is from LA and he describes this track as "Bouncy Lovehop") or heard any of his other work, but this remix is so unique that it melted my mind when I played it for the first time. Have a listen.

Blind Melon - No Rain (Pumpkin Remix)

[Indie/Electronic] Alex Winston - Velvet Elvis (Crystal Fighters Remix)

When we first caught wind of Alex Winston, we were in love. Her debut track about the Mormon-style spouse sharing "Sister Wife" (and especially the Star Slinger remix) has launched her into one of the best breakout indie acts this year. Winston's second track "Velvet Elvis" was also so well received by the music community that a Remix EP of the tune came out today. Its no surprise to anybody that follows this blog that we found the Crystal Fighters remix to be the best. Check out the remix and our previous favorite tune.

[Hip-Hop/Cover] MOD SUN feat. Skyler Stonestreet- Home

A hip hop song sampling Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros commercial smash "Home". Off of MOD SUN'S recently released Blazed By The Bell mixtape presented by DJ Ill Will and DJ Rockstar. Thanks to #1 SkeetBeatz fan Devan for sending this over.

[Indie/Electronic] RAC - 1979 (ft. Liz Anjos)

We've said this 1000 times. RAC can do no wrong. His imaginative, synth heavy style gets me every time. His latest is a rework uses vocals from Liz Anjos' cover of Smashing Pumpkin's classic "1979", a favorite of just about everybody that grew up in the 90's. We're a fan of all things RAC, and if you're not already, you will be soon.

[House] Florence + The Machine - Shake It Out (Benny Benassi Remix)

Well, this was bound to happen. It's about time somebody transformed a Florence track into a club jam. House legend Benny Benassi has already has jumped on "Shake It Out", which gained so much popularity in the last couple of weeks that the full-length Shake It Out Remix EP will be due out 10/2. In addition, R&B newcomer The Weeknd has a remix of his own appearing on the EP as well. Check out this preview, and anticipate the release.

[Rap] Domo Genesis- Under the Influence Mixtape

One of the hottest mixtapes I've heard in a long time. Kind of has a similar vibe to Curren$y's Pilot Talk albums...maybe because both rappers are heavily under the influence. Here are a few of my favorite tracks:

Domo Genesis- Shine

Domo Genesis- Glory

Domo Genesis- Benediction

[Indie Pop/ Disco] Jubilants - Antics (Dublin Aunts Remix)

As far as funky dance pop goes this song is golden. It's a fantastic remix of Jubliants' "Antics" by Dublin Aunts, an Australian DJ duo that I'm really not that familiar with.

wait what, the creator of the popular the notorious xx mashup album has dropped a new album pairing Nas and Washed Out. nasd out isn't quite as listenable as the notorious xx album but if you're into chillwave and Washed Out I'd highly recommend it. "If I ruled a world far away" is a standout track.

[Remix] Lauryn Hill - Doo Wop (Deebs Bootleg)

Regardless of how you feel about her, Lauryn Hill has talent and The Fugees have made a major impact on the world of music. Just wish she didn't hate white people so much.

This bootleg by Get Flavor records' Deebs (Will Diebel) is probably by far one of the best re-works of LH I have ever heard. The Toronto native adds heavy kick drums and even brings a moombahton feel to this bouncy dance tune.

Lauryn HIl - Doo Wop (Deebs Bootleg)

[Electronic] Body Language – You Can (Star Slinger Remix)

Brand new remix by SB favorite Star Slinger of Body Language's "You Can." If you've enjoyed some of Star Slinger's previous work you'll be a big fan of this track.

[Indie/Electronic] Scenic - Another Sky (The Magician Remix)

SUPERTREND posted the Magician's remix of "Another Sky" back in August when it was originally released, but no download was available. Much to my delight, I just discovered on one of our favorite blogs Site of Sound that you can now download this track. As my boy Frasz would say, GET IT!

Scenic - Another Sky (The Magician Remix)

[Electro/Dance] NERVO ft. Afrojack & Steve Aoki - We're All No One (Myndset Remix)

For those of you that follow this blog, you know that I don't normally post "bangers." Well, this is an exception. Myndset just released this remix a couple hours ago, and I can almost guarantee it will be at the top of Hype Machine within the next 48 hours. Nothing like an upbeat electro/dance track to get you excited for the weekend. Have a listen!

NERVO ft. Afrojack & Steve Aoki - We're All No One (Myndset Remix)

[Hip-Hop] J. Cole - Nobody's Perfect (feat. Missy Elliott)

Admittedly, I am not entirely on the J. Cole bandwagon like most people. Sure, he performed a great concert at Union a year and a half ago before he became so popular. Sure, I approached him after the show and he seemed like a really down-to-earth guy (he even signed the Larry Bird jersey I was wearing!) But I don't think he's the next Jay-z like some people make him out to be.

When I first saw that J. Cole had come out with a track featuring Missy Elliot I literally laughed out loud. Whenever I think of Missy Elliot my mind immediately turns to when I was 11 years old and saw the "Get Your Freak On" video for the first time. The scene in which she spits about 100 feet across the room into some guy's mouth was the most repulsive/hilarious thing I had ever seen. Anyways, I gave "Nobody's Perfect" a shot and I really like it. J. Cole raps at a slow pace for the duration of the song, which allows the listener to grasp his lyrics and appreciate the story he's telling. Missy's chorus is the icing on the cake (who knew she had such a good voice?)

Sorry for the long-winded post. Listen to the song, you'll like it.

J. Cole - Nobody's Perfect (feat. Missy Elliott)

[Nu-Disco/Electro] Glass Candy- Beautiful Object

I saw Glass Candy at FYF a few weeks back and they're pretty incredible live. Definitely worth it to see them in action. "Beautiful Object" sounds inspired by 80's David Bowie. More material is expected from Glass Candy very soon.

[Dubstep] Alex Clare - Up All Night (Skream's Behind Closed Door's Remix)

I don't know how I let this one slip by, but I'm glad Skream's marketing team sent it over. "Up All Night" has so many perfect elements to it. The beat was produced by Switch and Diplo (Major Lazer). Then, add in Alex Claire's vocals, who are some of the most powerful male vocals out there right now (I'd love to see him do a track with Adele). The original is great on its own, but the Godfather of Dubstep transforms it into a sub bass laden, slightly wobbly dark tune, that is comparable to the remix that made him famous; La Roux's "In For The Kill". Buy it now on iTunes.

[Rap] Statik Selektah feat. Big K.R.I.T and Freddie Gibbs-Play The Game

There's somewhat of a throwback feel to this production and I think it also comes through in the lyrical content. I didn't grow up in the South or in the projects but Big K.R.I.T's verses choke me up every time.

[Chilled/Electronic] Korallreven - As Young As Yesterday

There isn't a whole lot to say about this track, besides the fact that it is just beautiful. Accompanied by the surreal vocals of Taken By Tree's Victoria Bergsman, Swedish Duo Korallreven bid farewell to summer with this flawless experimental tune. The limited As Young As Yesterday 12″ comes pressed on orange vinyl and features remixes from Panda Bear + Girl Unit. Be sure to check it out.

Korallreven - As Young As Yesterday

[Trillwave] ASAP Rocky – Trilla

With so many "rappers" out there, ASAP Rocky might have slipped by your radar. What you probably didn't know is that this Harlem rapper is one of the best out there. Some have characterized his sound as Trillwave, with influences from the chopped and screwed era of leaned out beats and syrup sippin. However, ASAP Rocky and the ASAP team aren't just trying to re-live the glory days in a genre that is dead, but rather creating something new, and raw. Check out "Trilla" below.

*Bone Thugs?*

[Indie/Electronic] Carousel - Games

You've probably never heard of Carousel. Neither had I, until today. Faithful daily SB reader Devan U. sent us over a chilled out track by the duo (Kevin Friedman and Jackson Phillips) and I was quite impressed. I spent a long time searching the interwebs trying to find anything on them, and found literally nothing. So, either I don't know how to use Google, or SB is bringing you a completely undiscovered group with some serious talent. Check out "Games", and keep a look out for these guys.

[Electronic] Katy B - Lights On (Gigamesh Remix)

People in the UK love Katy B. I love Katy B. If you don't love her, you're in a different world than I am. Chick has an unreal voice and unreal production behind her, not to mention her sex appeal (and a ginger!?!?). What else is there in the pop world?

When I first heard Gigamesh's remix of this track I immediately thought of Afrika Bambaataa's "Planet Rock" because of the drum pads and synthesizers. So pretty much if you like beautiful female vocals, and 80's style dancing, this track is for you.

[Electro House] Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell- Ain’t No Mountain High Enough (Van O Remix)

The odds of me getting whiteboy wasted and dancing like an absolute idiot to this song this weekend are very high. It's a monster track.

Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell- Ain’t No Mountain High Enough (Van O Remix)

[Indie] Cults - Go Outside (Menahan Street Band Remix)

I'm a little late on this one, but better late than never. I was a huge fan of this Cult's track "Go Outside" this summer, and sadly, the summer is over. But I can still pretend. The Menahan Street Band is a collaboration of musicians from Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings (Dave Guy, Homer Steinweiss, Fernando Velez, Bosco Mann), El Michels Affair (Leon Michels, Toby Pazner), Antibalas (Nick Movshon, Aaron Johnson) and the Budos Band (Mike Deller, Daniel Fodder), brought together by musician/producer Thomas Brenneck to record hits in the bedroom of his Menahan St. apartment in Bushwick, Brooklyn. They've done a really nice job remixing this fabulous original, and you should absolutely check it out.

Cults - Go Outside (Menahan Street Band Remix)

[Essential Electro] Sneaky Sound System- Big (Oliver Remix)

This was on last weeks friday bangers but I'm posting it again because it just can't be missed. The production is out of sight: the vocals, the piano chords, the synths, the bass line are all massive. A bona fide global smash. It's being released by Modular records. No download...yet.

R.I.P. DJ Mehdi

Such a tragedy. Killed in a freak roof top accident in France while celebrating at a birthday party with friends. Way too young. Way too talented. RIP DJ Mehdi.

Santogold - Lights Out (DJ Mehdi Edit)

Miike Snow - Burial (DJ Mehdi Edit)

[Live Performance] Neon Indian- Polish Girl (Live on Jimmy Fallon)

We rarely post live performances but I'm a big fan of this song and Neon Indian is vibing out so hard it's almost funny. Plus the girl turning the knobs is pretty hot.

[Rap] Bei Maejor feat. Mike Posner-They Call Me

This is a standout track off Bei Major's recently released mixtape MaejorMaejor, presented By DJ Ill Will & DJ Rockstar, the gents who delivered Wiz Khalifa's Burn After Rolling. A soulful sample, sharp lyrics, and vocals from Mike Posner make this a next level track.

[Mashup] Kanye West x M83 - Midnight Life (The White Panda Remix)

I'm so happy the word about M83 is growing and Anthony Gonzalez is getting the publicity he deserves. His electronic dream pop sound is unlike anybody's out there and is truly unique. You might think that a Kanye mash-up with "Midnight City" may be a little strange, but The White Panda actually does a good job here. I'm a bigger fan of the original, but hey, that's me. It's definitely worth a listen.

[Dubstep] Theophilus London – I Stand Alone (Ocelot Remix)

Our boys over at The Music Ninja put up this Ocelot track today, and I knew I was going to be a fan even before I heard it. Ocelot's "Beating Hearts" was easily one of my favorite tracks last year, but this Theophilus London tune has an entirely different flavor. The Dubstep/Hip-Hop mix has become quite popular over the past year, and this one really stands out. Although it is atypical of the traditional funky Ocelot sound, I am positive that ya'll who like a little bass will be fans of this track. Check it out.

[Hip-Hop] Azad Right - Spiderwebs

In this day and age, quality, thoughtful hip hop is hard to come by. I have a hard time finding truly good tracks on the internet, because it is cluttered with garbage. I came across this track today by a guy, originally from Venice, named Azad Right, and I was beyond impressed. First of all, "Spiderwebs" samples Coldplay's "Trouble" which is an immediate plus. In addition, the track features dreamy female vocals, and meaningful lyrics that have a message. Keep an eye out for this guy...

[Indie/Alternative] Lana Del Rey - Blue Jeans *Video*

This video, and this song gives me chills. Lana Del Rey has made a major impact in the indie world with "Video Games" and shes back for more with "Blue Jeans". This sultry vixen has a beautiful voice and an undeniable sexual appeal. Lizzy Grant is one of the most promising emerging acts this year, and one you must look out for. Check out this video as well as "Video Games" below.

[Indie/Electronic] The Good Natured - Wolves (Crystal Fighters Remix)

Here's the latest remix by the Crystal Fighters, and boy am I feelin' it. I wasn't convinced the first time I heard it, but I've really taken a liking to it after a couple of listens. Its pretty glitchy and spacey, which makes it especially appealing to me. Have a listen!

P.S. I might be in love with the girl pictured on the left. I need to figure out who she is immediately.

[Rap] XV - The Kick (prod. by DJ Tech-Neek)

I'll make this short and sweet: XV absolutely MURDERS this track. Probably his best work thus far. The Inception-inspired beat by DJ Tech-Neek is also ridiculous....definitely a must listen.

XV - The Kick (prod. by DJ Tech-Neek)

[Indie/Pop] LIPS - Ghosts and Demons

We have featured LIPS on the blog before, and now she has come out with a new tune that you all should hear. But I will let her management team introduce you, if you don't know who she is...

"A talented keyboard player with a soft spot for Casio sounds, Stephanie Brown a.k.a Lips performed extensively in her native New Zealand before moving to New York and forming the soul blues act Fredericks Brown in 2007. In 2010 Brown decided to take the leap and make music in her own right.

Characterized by a giant pair of lips on legs, Lips is that solo persona. Having already won comparisons to the likes of Oh Land and Little Dragon, her's is a unique sound characterized by masterful songwriting and a sly sense of humor. Whether it's loneliness or love, anger of happiness, Brown has a knack for capturing the bittersweet nuances of life and putting them to song.

Lips's latest song,"Ghosts and Demons", is a raw account of grief; it describes the feeling when you lose someone and the world tilts on its head a little, when for a period things no longer quite make sense."

LIPS - Ghosts and Demons

[Freestyle] Tyler, the Creator ft. Domo Genesis - Odd & Twisted

Hip-hop's most worthy, Odd Future, is at it again. In this freestyle, Tyler The Creator and Domo Genesis go HAM over Mobb Deep's famous ‘Got It Twisted’ instrumental. This was part of Peter Rosenberg ‘What’s Poppin Vol. 1′ mixtape, and features some funny commentary from Mr. Rosenberg himself. Pardon the shit quality, as it was probably recorded on tour, but it is fire.

[Chilled] Inspired Flight - Wonderwall

Prepare to have your mind blown. If you haven't heard of Inspired Flight, get to know them now. This duo, who hail from San Diego, habitually mix together hip-hop, downtempo, reggae, electronica, indie and dance, into some beautiful tracks. This remix is not just your standard Oasis "Wonderwall" cover. It incorporates multiple Radiohead songs as well as tracks by Bob Marley, Postal Service, Morcheeba, Simian, and Blur. Check out this track, and another one called "It's The Chemicals" below.

Bird Peterson - Drankenstein 2

Long time SB enthusiast @ochoTRON sent us over this mixtape today, and I am grateful he did. We first caught wind of Bird Peterson through his phenomenal remix of Wale's "Freaks", and haven't heard much from him since. The Birdman himself describes the genre of this hour long mix as "Crunk Trance" (sounds awful...it isn't) as well as "Hot Ass Butt Jams". Interpret that however you want, but I listened to the whole thing through and enjoyed it thoroughly.
